What a cool experience. There were great presenters, surprising tech, so much enthusiasm all around. On this 3rd day I was especially impressed by presentations from Dr. Nick Barratt ("When Harry Met Dotty") and the panel discussion "Avoiding Ancestor Identity Theft" featuring Cheri Daniels, Deborah Maddox, and Linda Colston; both had great quality. In Dr. Barretts presentation: a very tangled case of family connections, false break throughs, and eventual truths, that was compelling in all its elements whether "failures" or successes. Daniels, Maddox, and Colston were entertaining and erudite in their presentation of the variety of fictional trees, and solutions to make good using CRAAP, SIFT, and GPS. The tech of Keepsake DNA is a revelation that I was surprised there was not more buzz about. I will soon be sending my grandfather's watch to have it analyzed. The prospect of getting a complete autosomal profile from their accredited lab for my grandfather who passed away 30 years ago nearly brought me to tears. The price is reasonable, the technology is sound, their website, KeepsakeDNA.org, is barebones, so I reccomend that you contact one of their leading biologist's, Danny Hellwig, to get the straight dope. Looking forward to Rootstech 2024.
